How the Influencer Rate Calculator Works

Pricing a sponsored post is one of the hardest parts of being a creator. There is no official rate card, but the industry has settled on a workable baseline. This calculator turns your follower count, engagement rate and platform into an estimated rate and a negotiation range so you walk into a brand conversation with a number instead of a guess.

The Formula

The estimate is built from a widely used baseline and two adjustment factors:

Estimated rate = followers × $0.01 × platform factor × engagement multiplier

  • $0.01 per follower is the well-known “$100 per 10,000 followers” rule for an Instagram feed post.
  • Platform factor scales the base: a YouTube dedicated video is worth more than a story or a tweet.
  • Engagement multiplier = your engagement rate ÷ a 3% baseline, capped between 0.5x and 2x.

Worked Example

A creator has 50,000 followers, a 3% engagement rate, and posts to the Instagram feed:

  • Base rate = 50,000 × $0.01 = $500
  • Engagement multiplier = 3% ÷ 3% = 1.0x
  • Platform factor (feed post) = 1.0x
  • Estimated rate = 500 × 1.0 × 1.0 = $500 per post (range $375 – $625)

If that creator’s engagement rose to 6%, the multiplier becomes 2.0x and the estimate doubles to about $1,000.

What This Estimate Does Not Include

Treat the result as a starting point, not a final invoice. Charge extra for paid usage / whitelisting, category exclusivity, extra deliverables, rush timelines, and content licensing. Rates also swing by niche — finance and B2B creators command premiums over lifestyle accounts at the same size.

Frequently asked questions

How much should an influencer charge per post?+

A common industry baseline is about $100 per 10,000 followers for an Instagram feed post, which works out to roughly $0.01 per follower. That figure is then adjusted up or down for engagement rate, platform and content type. A 50,000-follower account at average engagement would start around $500 per post.

How is the influencer rate calculated?+

This tool multiplies your follower count by a base rate of $0.01 per follower, then applies a platform factor (YouTube videos earn more than a tweet) and an engagement multiplier that compares your engagement rate to a 3% baseline. The result is a suggested rate plus a range of plus or minus 25% for negotiation.

Does engagement rate affect how much I can charge?+

Yes, strongly. Brands pay for attention, not just audience size, so a creator with a 6% engagement rate can command roughly double the rate of one with 3% at the same follower count. This calculator caps the engagement multiplier between 0.5x and 2x to keep estimates realistic.

Why are YouTube rates higher than Instagram or TikTok?+

A dedicated YouTube video takes far more production time, lives permanently on a searchable platform, and drives deeper consideration than a quick story or tweet. Because of that production cost and shelf life, YouTube videos carry a higher platform factor, while stories and tweets carry lower factors.

Should I charge more for usage rights and exclusivity?+

Absolutely. The base estimate covers a single organic post. Add fees when a brand wants to run your content as paid ads (whitelisting), keep exclusivity in your niche, demand multiple revisions, or license the content for an extended period. These extras can easily double a base rate.
