How the PhilHealth Contribution Calculator Works
PhilHealth is the Philippines’ national health insurance program. Every employed member pays a monthly premium based on their basic salary, and the employer matches it. This calculator applies the 2025 premium rate of 5%, enforces the 10,000 floor and 100,000 ceiling, and splits the result 50/50 between employee and employer.
The Formula
Premium basis = min(max(monthly basic salary, 10,000), 100,000) Total monthly premium = basis × 5% Employee share = Employer share = total ÷ 2
The rate is applied to the basic salary only. Because the basis is clamped between the floor and the ceiling, the total premium always falls between 500 and 5,000 per month.
Worked Example
For an employee earning a monthly basic salary of 30,000:
- Premium basis = 30,000 (within the floor and ceiling)
- Total premium = 30,000 × 5% = 1,500
- Employee share = 1,500 ÷ 2 = 750
- Employer share = 1,500 ÷ 2 = 750
If the salary were 8,000, the basis would be lifted to the 10,000 floor (total 500). If it were 150,000, the basis would be capped at the 100,000 ceiling (total 5,000).
Contribution Reference Table
| Monthly basic salary | Premium basis | Total premium (5%) | Employee share |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8,000 | 10,000 | 500.00 | 250.00 |
| 20,000 | 20,000 | 1,000.00 | 500.00 |
| 30,000 | 30,000 | 1,500.00 | 750.00 |
| 60,000 | 60,000 | 3,000.00 | 1,500.00 |
| 120,000 | 100,000 | 5,000.00 | 2,500.00 |
Why It Matters
Your PhilHealth premium funds inpatient and outpatient benefits, so keeping contributions current protects your coverage. For employees, the deduction appears on your payslip; the employer remits both shares together. Self-employed and voluntary members pay the full 5% themselves, within the same floor and ceiling.
This tool reflects the 2025 PhilHealth premium schedule and is for general guidance only. Rates and limits are set by PhilHealth and can change — confirm the current schedule on official PhilHealth advisories and check with your HR or payroll team for your exact deduction.
Frequently asked questions
How is the PhilHealth contribution calculated in 2025?+
Multiply your monthly basic salary by the 5% premium rate, then split it equally between you and your employer. A salary of 30,000 gives a 1,500 monthly premium, with 750 paid by the employee and 750 by the employer.
What is the PhilHealth contribution rate for 2025?+
The 2025 PhilHealth premium rate is 5% of the monthly basic salary. This rate is shared 50/50, so the employee and the employer each shoulder 2.5% of the basic salary, within the income floor and ceiling.
What are the PhilHealth income floor and ceiling?+
The income floor is 10,000 and the ceiling is 100,000. Salaries below 10,000 are computed as if they were 10,000, and salaries above 100,000 are capped at 100,000, so monthly premiums range from 500 to 5,000.
How much PhilHealth does an employee pay?+
The employee pays half of the total premium, equal to 2.5% of the basic salary within the floor and ceiling. That works out to between 250 and 2,500 per month, with the employer matching the same amount.
Is PhilHealth based on basic salary or gross pay?+
PhilHealth premiums are based on the monthly basic salary, not gross pay. Allowances, overtime and bonuses are generally excluded from the premium basis, which is then bounded by the 10,000 floor and 100,000 ceiling.
