How the Anagram Solver Works
An anagram rearranges all the letters of a word to spell a different word. This solver finds them using a simple, fast technique called a letter signature:
- Take a word and sort its letters alphabetically — so
listenbecomeseilnst. - Do the same with your input letters.
- If the two sorted signatures are identical, the words are true anagrams of each other.
For partial matches, the tool instead checks whether each dictionary word’s letters all fit inside your letters (counting duplicates), which surfaces every shorter word you can build.

- Use all letters (true anagrams) — returns words the same length as your input that rearrange into a real word. Enter

The results are sorted longest-first so the most valuable words — usually the highest scoring in tile games — appear at the top of the list.

What is an anagram?+
An anagram is a word or phrase formed by rearranging the letters of another, using each letter exactly once. For example, 'listen' and 'silent' are anagrams of each other because both use the letters e, i, l, n, s and t.
How does the anagram solver find words?+
It sorts the letters of every word in its dictionary into an alphabetical signature. To find true anagrams it matches words whose sorted letters exactly equal your sorted input; in sub-word mode it returns any word whose letters fit inside your letters.
What is the difference between exact and partial matching?+
Exact matching (true anagrams) returns only words that use all of your letters once each. Partial matching, or sub-words, returns shorter words you can build from some of your letters, which is ideal for crosswords, Scrabble and word puzzles.
Why are some words missing from the results?+
The solver uses a built-in list of over 5,000 common English words so results stay recognisable and load instantly. Very rare, technical or proper-noun words may not appear. It is designed for everyday word games rather than tournament Scrabble validation.
Can I solve anagrams with blank or wildcard letters?+
