How the Backwards Text Generator Works

This tool transforms your text three different ways, each updating live as you type:

• Backwards (reverse characters) — the simplest effect: it reverses the order of every character so Hello becomes olleH using ordinary letters.
• Upside down — each letter is swapped for a special Unicode character that looks like its flipped version, and the whole line is reversed so it reads correctly when the page is turned over. Hello becomes something like ollǝH.
• Mirror — each glyph is flipped in place without reversing the order, giving a reflected look as if seen in a mirror.

The upside-down and mirror styles rely on Unicode characters that resemble flipped letters. They are real text, not images, so you can copy and paste them into social media bios, captions, usernames and chat apps.

Worked Example

Type Hello World and choose Upside down. The tool flips each letter — H, e, l, l, o, W, o, r, l, d — into their upside-down Unicode forms and reverses the order, producing text that reads correctly when your screen is turned 180 degrees.

Tips and Limits

• Not every character has a flipped Unicode form. Uppercase letters, accents and emoji may pass through unchanged.
• Some apps strip uncommon characters, so preview before posting to Instagram, TikTok or Discord.
• For a plain reversed look that always renders, use the Backwards style, which only uses standard letters.
