Merge PDF Files

What this tool does

This tool combines several PDF files into a single PDF, in the order you choose, directly in your browser. Add two or more PDFs, drag them into the right order with the up and down arrows, and download one merged document. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so even confidential files stay on your own device.

How to use the PDF merger

1. Click Choose PDF files and select two or more PDFs. You can add more files afterwards and they are appended to the list.
2. Check the order in the list. The position top to bottom is the page order in the final document.
3. Use the ↑ and ↓ arrows to move a file, or the ✕ to remove one. Use Clear all to start over.
4. Click Merge PDFs. After a moment you’ll see a success message with a Download merged PDF button.

The output keeps every page from every file, so a 3-page file followed by a 5-page file produces an 8-page PDF.

Is it private and safe?

Yes. This is a fully client-side tool. When you select files, the browser reads them locally with file.arrayBuffer() and merges them with the open-source pdf-lib library running on your machine. Your PDFs never leave your device — there is no upload, no server processing, and nothing is stored or logged. That makes it safe for contracts, invoices, medical forms, and any other sensitive paperwork. Once the page has loaded you can even disconnect from the internet and the merge will still work.

Tips for clean merges

• Name files in order first. If you rename files so they sort the way you want (for example 1-cover.pdf, 2-body.pdf), they tend to land in the list already in sequence, with less reordering to do.
• Merge in stages for big jobs. If you are combining many large scans, merge them in two or three batches and then merge those results. This keeps memory use low on older devices.
• Combine before sharing. Merging a cover letter, resume, and references into one file means the recipient opens a single attachment instead of three.
• Reduce size separately. This tool preserves quality and does not compress. If the merged file is large, run it through a PDF or image compressor afterwards.
