How the Scramble Word Generator Works
This tool takes the words you type and shuffles their letters to create jumbles. It uses the Fisher–Yates shuffle, a standard algorithm that produces a truly random, unbiased reordering of a list — here, the list of letters in each word.

Two Scramble Modes
- Full shuffle (default) — every letter can move anywhere, producing a proper jumble like
elephant → htenelpa. Best for unscramble puzzles where the player must rebuild the word. - Keep first and last letter — only the middle is shuffled, e.g.
elephant → ealephnt. This relies on the well-known reading effect where the brain still recognises a word when its outer letters are fixed, making for gentle, fun puzzles.
