How the Upside Down Text Generator Works

The text is not actually rotated. Instead, each character is swapped for a Unicode look-alike of its rotated self, and the whole string is reversed. When the reader’s eye runs left to right across the result, it reads as if the original text had been turned 180 degrees.
How it works
The generator does two things:
- Character substitution — every letter, digit, and many punctuation marks are mapped to a rotated look-alike. For example,
a → ɐ,e → ǝ,t → ʇ,?→¿. Letters that look the same upside down, like H, I, N, O, S, X and Z, map to themselves. - Reversal — the substituted characters are reversed in order, because the first letter of your text should end up on the right when the line is flipped.
Anything without a sensible rotated counterpart is left unchanged.
