How the Etsy Fee Calculator Works
Etsy takes several cuts from every sale, so the price a buyer pays is never what lands in your account. This calculator adds up the three standard fees — the listing fee, the transaction fee, and the payment processing fee — then shows your net payout and your profit after item cost. All rates are editable, with current United States defaults pre-filled.
The Formula
For a standard US sale, the fees stack like this:
Total sale = item price + shipping charged Listing fee = 0.20 dollars Transaction fee = 6.5% × total sale Payment processing = 3% × total sale + 0.25 dollars Net payout = total sale − all fees
The transaction and processing fees apply to the full order total, including the shipping you charge.
Worked Example
Suppose you sell an item for 20 dollars, charge 5 dollars shipping, and the item cost you 6 dollars:
- Total sale = 20 + 5 = 25.00 dollars
- Listing fee = 0.20 dollars
- Transaction fee = 6.5% × 25 = 1.63 dollars
- Payment processing = 3% × 25 + 0.25 = 0.75 + 0.25 = 1.00 dollars
- Total fees = 0.20 + 1.63 + 1.00 = 2.83 dollars
- Net payout = 25 − 2.83 = 22.17 dollars
- Profit after 6 dollar cost = 16.17 dollars

Tips for Accurate Results
- Include shipping in the price field correctly. Both the transaction and processing fees apply to shipping you charge, so the calculator adds them to the taxed base.
- Watch optional fees. Etsy Ads, Offsite Ads, and a Plus subscription are extra and are not in the standard formula. Subtract them separately when they apply.
- Currency conversion and country. Payment processing rates differ by country, and currency conversion adds a fee for cross-border sales. Set the processing percentage to your own region.
